She's home!

And she has a new name, Molly. Our kids decided they liked Molly better!

My daughter and I picked her up at the airport today. She did GREAT. She was so happy and perky, and wagged her tail as soon as she saw us. I thought she'd be out of it after a 5 hour flight, but she was mostly just hungry and thirsty. She slept most of the ride home, and went potty as soon as we got home and I put her in the grass...what a good girl! She is just SO sweet, friendly, and playful. She got along very well with our 10 month old female doxie. Rella just loves her, she was giving her kisses and wagging her tail the whole time. But I have yet to meet a dog she doesn't like, lol, Rella is a social butterfly!

I am so happy to have her home. She seems to be pretty comfortable already, although my apartment isn't very big, so it doesn't take long. She went right to her bowls to look for food and water, and even peed on one of her pee pads, so, so far, so good! She is fast asleep, laying on my feet right now. :) She definitely feels like MY doxie, I am so in love with her. She's been following me around everywhere. Here's some pics!

Right after we picked her up

Enjoying the outdoors

Meeting Rella for the first time

And playing with her toys at home

I'm not sure what to say here.
Abbey is crated at night and she doesn't make a peep,as long as I'm in the room,or she's super tired!
She also stays crated while I work, but my mom let her out for about an hour in the morning and then she stays out unless noone is home, then she gets crated again. As soon as I get home,I take her potty, then she stays out and plays with me or the other dogs for a long time, around 9;30-10,she knows it's bedtime and off we go....she's fine with it,it's her routine, but if something happens and it gets messed up,it throws her off and she can't hardly get back on track, that is why we try to do the same thing all the time so there is no confusion.
Hope you figure out something,so that everyone can sleep well again!Good Luck!
~Kayla

Raffle for Nintendo Wii to benefit Southern States Dach Rescue

Hello,
As many of you know there is an ongoing need to raise money to vet our rescue dogs. The need is increasing because of the mortgage crisis spurring an increase in pet abandonment as well as due to the light shed on the horrors of puppy mills by Oprah Winfrey. Shelters and breeders are now calling us to not surrender one or two dogs but anywhere from 4 to 24 dogs.
We are raffling off a Nintendo Wii complete with 4 additional games to benefit our rescue. If you would like to purchase tickets please follow the link below to go to our website. If you cannot purchase tickets at this time please consider forwarding this to anyone who might be interested.
http://www.ssdr.org/info/display?PageID=4928

Thanks you,

Traci
Secretary, Southern States Dachshund Rescue

I hate to say this, but your dog probably barks at night because he´s full of energy from being crated all day. Like humans, dogs can get depressed or bored. A doxie is a very energetic, playful dog and I agree that a playpen crate wold be a better idea, so he can get rid of the extra energy with his toys. Good luck!!!!

Re: Doxie losing hair on one side

Thanks for the info- I don't think he is rubbing his side in that one spot - at one time I saw him biting there, he does not have fleas or ticks so maybe his skin is dry- but he doesn't do it alot. I just bought him royal canin today and I am going to start him on that- he was eating IAMS before. Maybe the new diet will work. I spoke with my groomer and she is going to look into also. I may take him back to the vet, but before they said that if the pills and ointment didn't work it could just be a food allergy so I don't think the vet really knows.
