My Dearest Doxie Friends,
It has come to my attention that the Hotdog Blog seems to have become infected with a bug and I am NOT refering to some insidious computer virus. The bug to which I refer is the love bug! Heck, it has even found it's way into our house with Brownie falling head-over-heels for Daphne.
What bothers me is not that love is in the air, but the virulent way it seems to have infected some on the HDB. As Valentine's Day draws closer I think it is important to take a step back and remind ourselves what love is supposed to be. From First Corinthians Chapter 13 Verses 4 - 8.
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged. It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. Love will last forever...
So Zorro relax and quit worrying about Olivia needing a flashy gift and think of what else you might have to offer her - a funny poem or a paw print cartoon. In the immortal words of J-Lo (Jennifer Lopez to the pop culturally challenged) "Love don't cost a thing!"
In fact, I challenge all of my Hotdog Blog friends to forget about the material and commercials tokens of love this Valentine's Day. Instead, get creative and come up with something novel, unique, old-fashioned or quaint to show your love to your HDB sweetheart.
And lest you all think that I have a heart of stone, I will be on the look-out for all of your declarations and tokens of love. On February 15th (or shortly thereafter), I will announce my favorite of all the love declarations and award a little token of my own affection to the author/creator.
In the meantime, get to work and remember that you will all be my valentine as I hope to be all of yours,
Love, Annabel
